International Wood Composites Symposium & Technical Workshop
The 43rd International Wood Composites Symposium and Technical Workshop will be held March 30-April 1, 2009 at the Red Lion Hotel on Fifth Avenue in Seattle, Washington.
Organized by WSU’s Wood Materials and Engineering Laboratory, the Symposium is an industry-driven forum presenting the latest advances and developments in wood composites technology. The agenda for the two-day Symposium will feature sessions on Markets, Sustainability, & Biomass Utilization and Products & Process Innovation. Technical Workshop Keynote Speaker
A one-day Technical Workshop on “Natural Fibers: Their Role in the Carbon Economy” will take place on Monday, March 30, before the Symposium. The Technical Workshop Keynote Speaker will be Dr. James Holbery, President and Founder, Energy Mobility Inc., and formerly a scientist/principal investigator in the Energy and Environment Directorate at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He is a recognized expert in energy harvesting and lightweight materials. He is actively involved in the development of natural fiber processing and surface modification techniques, long fiber predictive engineering, and natural fiber reinforced composites.
